Winter Sun

© Lucy Wise 2015

Picked up a little winter sun
I caught a little winter sun on my arm today
She was bouncing off the laundromat window
From face to face she’s in the crowd again

In this mile of marketplace
Woken from slumber
We’re falling into rhythm
And forgetting ‘bout the numbers
Out here with everybody else, everybody else

Trace of blue in the cobblestone
You sing me up, you wind me on
To run my finger along the fence
Down to Sydney road again

In this laneway time runs wide
All there is to know’s outside
Just keep walking
Leave those furrowed thoughts behind

In this mile of marketplace
Woken from slumber
We’re falling into rhythm
And forgetting ‘bout the numbers
Out here with everybody else

Forgetting where I’m going
Forgetting what I want to be
Forgetting ‘bout the shopping list
Going to go looking for something sweet
Did you ever hear a raven
Cackling at the cars crawling by
Walking along with this Tuesday Pomegranate

In this mile of marketplace
Woken from slumber
We’re falling into rhythm
And forgetting ‘bout the numbers
Out here with everybody else
