We went walking today
As the sun spilt on the heather
And we picked up our pace
From the walkers up ahead
And you helped me to look steady
And not at the long way down
Windswept jackets empty
Of the weary ones we were
And in time
We will get there in sweet time
But we’re already here for now
In the home of mountain hare
And the short-eared owl
We pick bilberries and bravely
We taste their bitter skin
And we talk of loves that haunt us
And carry us along
The rocky path turning all our voices into song
And in time
The will get there in sweet time
But we’re already here for now
In this northern lamp-lit scape
I could stay awake for longer
But by now it’s getting dark
In the town that I call home
We must keep on walking
No matter what life brings
And in a laugh, in a cry
Is where it all begins
And in time
The will get there in sweet time
But we’re already here for now
And in time
The will get there in sweet time
But we’re already here for now
